Operations begin at Grundartangi. A 1,000 m² facility is built and
preparation for dross processing begins.
2016 Preparation begins for a facility expansion.
2018
Facility expanded to over 2,000 m². Dry-process equipment introduced,
enabling recovery of aluminum from fines and slag sand. New control
building commissioned.
2020
Site fenced and finishing work completed in front of the facility.
Equipment and processes upgraded to maximize recovery and reduce the
formation of salt slag and NMP.
2022
Processing of aluminum scrap begins alongside dross. Letter of intent
signed for the development of a green industrial park with a circular
economy focus at Grundartangi.
2023
Equipment for recycling salt slag and NMP installed and commissioned.
Site expanded with additional 2,000 m² plot of land.
2024
Site finishing completed, unbound surface paved, and dust control system
commissioned. Preparation begins for equipment expansion to increase
recycling capacity.
2025
Site expanded with an additional 6,000 m² plot of land.
2026
Investment made in a new filter house for production. Office and staff
facilities built on site.
